Accounts Assistant, Leeds

At Gough & Kelly, we’re offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to join our busy finance team as an Accounts Assistant at our Leeds HQ.
The position:
- Permanent, full-time
- 37.5 hours per week
Main duties:
As an Accounts Assistant, you’ll play a key role in ensuring our finance operations run smoothly and efficiently. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring the accounts inbox and handling queries
- Preparing and processing weekly BACS payments
- Producing supplier self-bills and invoices
- Posting daily bank transactions and managing cheques
- Carrying out bank reconciliations across multiple companies
- Processing purchase ledger invoices using Lightyear and Sage
- Reconciling supplier statements and ledgers
- Managing credit card transactions and petty cash records
- Handling calls and providing excellent customer service
- Supporting wider finance tasks to meet month-end deadlines
What we’re looking for:
- AAT Level 2 qualification (or qualified by experience)
- Previous experience in a finance team (minimum 2 years)
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Experience using Sage (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work under pressure
- Professionalism and commercial awareness
- A team player who enjoys building positive relationships
