Meet Russell

Can you remember where you were when the first Covid-19 lockdown was announced? Russell Mungovin, our Fire & Projects Assistant Manager here at Gough & Kelly was gearing up for a new chapter as he joined Gough & Kelly.

How and when did you join Gough & Kelly?

I joined Gough & Kelly on 23 March 2020, the very same day the first UK lockdown wa announced. I usually pride myself on punctuality but was late due to schools being forced to close. I had to drag the whole family out to drop me off. That very same day, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced a full national lockdown, but we rose to the challenge and battled through to keep the Electrical department going, providing essential services to our customers.

How has your career developed?

I’ve been in the industry for over 15 years now, but I joined Gough & Kelly as a fire Alarm Engineer carrying out Commissioning, Maintenance, Installation, and fault rectification. I also carried out surveys to provide quotes to potential customers. Gradually, I have moved into a more office-based role, helping to design Fire Alarm systems, and assisting in BAFE compliance, but I still like to get out on site regularly to oversee the fire projects, and help younger members of the team develop their skills. I believe that is one thing that Gough & Kelly excels at as a company. Further training and support are always available for those wanting to develop their skills.

Tell us about a typical day at Gough & Kelly.

There is no such thing as a typical day at Gough & Kelly. Every day is different, and that’s what I love. I can be sitting in the office one minute, then scrambling around a void, trying to find an open circuit the next.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

The people. We have a great team here at Gough & Kelly, and I really enjoy building working relationships to provide solutions that meet customer needs.

Passion outside of work?

Outside of work, I love nothing more than spending time with my family on long dog walks. I am also a keen golfer.
