Gough & Kelly has been awarded two major London contracts to provide security services at both the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations on 5 June and at RideLondon on 29 May.
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee contract will see Gough & Kelly take 400 security staff – its largest ever deployment of staff outside of Yorkshire – to London, as part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pageant event on Sunday 5 June. We are the only security firm from Yorkshire to cover the Pageant event.
Gough & Kelly security staff will line the streets and take control tower positions as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in commemoration of the monarch’s 70 years on the throne. 10,000 people will be involved at the Pageant event, including members of the military, over 6,000 volunteers, performers and key workers as well as 2,500 members of the public.
We will also provide 200 security staff to secure a 10-mile stretch of the RideLondon cycle race on 29 May, including the start position at Victoria Embankment and finish line at Tower Bridge. The charity event is expected to attract 20,000 cyclists who will participate in the traffic-free 100-mile course. The Gough & Kelly team will assist with rider and spectator safety, the major road closures, and general security at this year’s ride.
Says Ian Crawford, “We are incredibly proud to have been selected to provide security services at these two high profile events in the capital. Our teams are highly skilled security professionals and are well versed in handling events of this scale. Both events involve significant road closures and will require strict supervision by the team. Working alongside the police and other security teams from across the UK, it is our role to protect those involved in the events, to ensure visitors are always kept safe and to help the events run smoothly.”Return to the News page
