Gough & Kelly are supporting the York Citizen’s Advice Bureau boat team in this year’s Dragon Boat Race, on the 15th July. Organised by the local Rotary Club, York Rotary Dragon Boat Challenge has been held annually since 2003 and raises thousands of pounds for charities. This year, 36 teams will battle it out on the Ouse between Scarborough Railway Bridge and Lendal Bridge, to raise funds for this year’s nominated charities, York Mind and Citizen’s Advice York.
Citizen’s Advice York is an independent charity affiliated to the national organisation, Citizens Advice. “Every year Citizen’s Advice volunteers in York, supported by a small paid team, help over 5,000 local people. Demand for their service is huge and they constantly struggle to cope. There’s an ongoing need to recruit, train and support more volunteers. Through our support, we’re hoping to help alleviate some of the pressures on this very worthwhile service,” says Ian Crawford, G&K’s Group Operations Director.
Citizen’s Advice York’s race team, the ‘Citizen Paddlers’, will be bolstered by G&K staff who will also be raising funds on the actual day to help achieve their target of £5000. As a local charity, this year’s race will also be a massive boost to their campaign to inform people about their valuable work.Return to the News page
