A real hero

We’re extremely proud to tell you about site manager Paul Cuthbertson’s recent award nomination.

Paul’s quick responses and first aid knowledge have saved lives on two occasions, earning him a nomination in City of York Council’s annual VIP Awards in the ‘exceptional employee’ category. This is the first time someone has been nominated who isn’t directly employed by the council.

Paul, who is our site manager at City of York Council’s West Offices HQ, acted quickly to carry out first aid on a member of council staff who had gone into anaphylactic shock following a severe allergic reaction to something she ate. Just a month earlier, Paul had administered life-saving first aid to another employee who was having a heart attack.

Operations manager Richard Cuff, who heads our security operations on site for CoYC in York, says: “Paul is responsible for general safety, access control and welfare of staff and visitors on site – as well as being our go-to life saver! He takes great pride in his work and is a highly valued member of the team. We’re all immensely proud of Paul’s actions and his well-deserved award nomination.”
