National Three Peaks Challenge

Michael Oldfield, a Senior Engineer in the Gough & Kelly security department, is in the throws of training for one of the most physically demanding 24 hours of his life. Mike and a group of friends have signed up to compete in this years’ National Three Peaks Challenge. Taking in Snowden, Scafell and Ben Nevis the event is completed in just one day, the 15th of September.

This apparent madness isn’t just for the ‘fun’ of it either. The team are raising money for the extremely good cause of the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity supporting service men and women wounded in action since the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Mike says, “The training is really grueling at the moment as we’re aiming to run large parts of the course but it’s nothing compared to what the people who Help for Heroes support go through every day of their lives”. And when asked if he thinks he’ll enjoy the challenge Mike adds, “I’m really looking forward to it but not as much as I’m looking forward to seeing that finish line”

If you’d like to sponsor Mike and support the Help for Heroes charity, visit the team’s webpage at www.bmycharity.com/threepeaks2012.

We’ll be sure to let you know how he gets on!
